Working for Teachers College of Columbia University

For the summer of 2009, I had the privilege to work with the Say Yes program in affiliation with Teachers College of Columbia University for five weeks as an intern. Although this is not what I expectantly desire to do for a career, it was a great experience. I can definitely say that my leadership skills have improved from this experience especially since I was daily responsible for ten children of ages ranging from eight to ten. In addition, I was also responsible for instructing them in subjects such as math, reading, and writing to the best of my ability with a certified teacher. The program consisted of a daily two hour academic session, enrichment which consisted of sports in which I was in charge of as well as other activities such as book publishing and dance. All in all, the five weeks went better than I had anticipated; now I am finding myself missing the kids dearly, hopefully I can do this again next summer.

Credentials

I have three years plus of retail experience specializing in customer service, additionally, I have ten years and counting of experience in translation of Spanish to English. As previously stated I fluently speak Spanish as it is my native tongue. I am very articulate when it comes down to computers; I have six years of experience with basic and advanced computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
